Louis Borgex was born in
Fontaine-St-Martin in the Rhone in 1873. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts
in Lyon and later in Paris. He exhibited in the Lyon Salon from 1895 and in the
Paris Salon from 1898. His atmospheric, post-Impressionist works were in great
demand in the Parisian art world and new works were eagerly awaited. He left no
trace in the art world after 1920 and it is rare to find a pair of his very best
post-Impressionist paintings in almost perfect condition.
