John Beer was an artist who spent most of his life painting horse racing scenes for Messrs Fores, meeting the punishing deadlines demanded by the sporting illustration journals. The Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool have over 100 of his racing scenes from the collection of Lord Wavertree. The above watercolour was exhibited at The Wolverhampton Art Galleries & Museums 1996 Exhibition - "Victorian Watercolours from the Gunn Collection"
