Kinosuke Ebihara was born in Kagoshima City, Japan and then travelled to Paris in 1923 placing himself in the midst of the art world. He developed his own style of painting and these early paintings from the 1920s and 1930s are now sought after by collectors. He was a great influence on Japanese art and a major exhibition of his work was held in 2004 at the Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto. There is a memorial statue of the artist outside the museum in honour of his contribution to modern art in Japan. The Cleveland Museum of Art hold a larger example of his work, titled "River Scene" which was painted in 1927. Another of his paintings, "Ravens in the Snow" which was painted in 1928, was recently sold in auction in USA for $17,775.
