Carleton Grant is known for his landscape and figure watercolours with tones reflecting the late Victorian period. He is recorded as having lived in Liverpool, then Wales, then Bucks and finally on the Isle of Wight. From 1885 to 1899, he exhibited 10 paintings at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, a further 10 paintings at the Royal Academy, and 24 paintings at the Royal Society of British Artists.
