James Noble was a still life artist who was inspired by the 17th century Dutch masters. He studied in London under the well-known Scottish artist, Iain MacNab. From 1950, James Noble exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Paris Salon and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. In 1957, he had his first solo exhibition in Bond Street. This was so successful that many other exhibitions followed at Frost & Reed, Mandell's and Stacy-Marks. James Noble lived in Middlesex, then London and finally settled in Norwich and is listed in The Dictionary of Flower Painters.
